I’ve come to realise that, despite our best intentions, we can’t always provide the level of care our elderly loved ones need. Between work and other responsibilities, being there for them around the clock isn’t always possible.
Thankfully, home health care services are available even on the small island of Malta. With trained professionals and dedicated support, seniors can receive the quality care they deserve.
After speaking with neighbours and friends, I’ve put together a list of the most reliable home health care services in Malta. These are providers you can trust to keep your loved ones in good hands.

Hiring a home health care service in Malta typically costs around €8 to €21 per hour. This doesn’t account for additional services, such as chores and grocery shopping, or extra charges for administering certain medications.

At Healthmark Care Services, they specialise in serving the community through domiciliary services. Their carers are available 24/7 and can easily assist with daily activities.
I was glad to know that they are ISO-certified and accredited by the Malta Academy for Nurses and Carers.
Their carers and nurses can take care of patients suffering from acute and chronic pain, as well as those with a declining physical condition. I’ve also spoken to several clients whose loved ones received end-of-life care, and it was a smooth process that made their last days peaceful.
Patients often have their blood pressure monitored, and diabetic patients are constantly checked. Their carers are even experts in medication administration, which helps prevent medical errors.
However, it can be difficult to contact them initially because they are quite popular.

Their home nursing services cater to several conditions. The most notable of these are their rehabilitation care following surgery and palliative care for those suffering from serious illnesses.
Aside from their home nursing services, they are known for the flight nurse medical escorts. I found this service reliable for patients travelling to meet family.
Some clients have even used their cleaning services in tandem with their nursing services to great effect. They even offer healthcare courses here that provide great certifications.
Still, I wish their domiciliary support didn’t come with extra charges.
Nonetheless, their team has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. They are a multi-award-winning service, with accolades from respected bodies such as the Malta Healthcare Awards and Malta’s Best-in-Business Awards.

3C Malta offers specialised care plans tailored to each patient’s specific needs. They have over 30 years of experience in community and health care.
Uniquely, they are among the few services to offer a live-in carer, providing reliable round-the-clock support in the comfort of the patient’s home.
Nursing services are also available and are best at administering certain medications, such as insulin, and monitoring vital signs.
They even offer phlebotomy services and physiotherapy, which maintain a comprehensive health history for each patient throughout their care. They are also great for temporary injuries, like foot and ankle injuries.
Occupational therapy is available here as well, perfect for those losing the ability to perform daily tasks. Several clients even praised 3C Malta’s dietitian services, which helped patients eat healthier and meet specific nutritional goals.
However, it would be nicer if their office were more accessible, as Birkirkara can be difficult to reach due to traffic.

The experience with them begins with an on-site initial consultation and assessment visit. This is where they check whether any of their carers are suitable for you, while assessing the patient’s potential needs.
Live-in carers are the most popular type of carer here, best suited to those who need assistance with activities of daily living. I quite like that these caregivers also assist in chores and meal prep with no extra cost.
For those who need minimal assistance, day carers are available and offer the same services. This is best for those who are still ambulatory or have family with them in the evenings.
However, given all these great services, I was disappointed that they don’t offer care for younger individuals and focus mainly on the elderly.

Assisted Care Accord is a private-duty home health care service that provides a lighter approach to home care. They are known for their flexible schedules and light housekeeping, assisting their patients while still giving them independence.
Their care is split between CarePal, MaidPal, and ErrandPal.
CarePal is the most prominent and focuses on providing at-home care to patients. These can be hourly, overnight, or custom. While I was disappointed that there isn’t an option for full-time care, their care is still excellent when compared to others.
MaidPal and ErrandPal are best for chores and errands. They can help declutter spaces and serve as a cheap delivery service for patients to their loved ones. I also adore that they often have sales for these two services, which can be handy for disabled folk.
They also offer respite care and can even be hired for custom hours, such as those who only need help in receiving medication.
