1. Bortex Fine Tailoring

Address: A11 Industrial Estate, Il-Marsa MRS 3000
Contact Details: +356 2125 2184
Operating Hours: Monday to Saturday: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Bortex is a well-known fine tailoring service in Malta. Their clothes are all made to measure and are best suited for corporate attire, weddings, and major events.
Tailoring with them starts with their tailoring specialists, who guide clients through a wide selection of fabrics, cuts, and finishes. Some of the types of clothes they can make are suits, dresses, and graduation gowns.
Aside from custom-made items, they also offer several ready-made pieces that can be easily adjusted to fit any client. These range from menswear to womenswear to childrenswear.
Additionally, they offer several promotions and even bespoke schoolwear. These uniforms are made from the best materials, and Bortex works with prestigious schools such as De La Salle and Sacred Heart College.
Still, I wish their services were cheaper, but the high-quality product does make up for the steep cost.

2. The Sewing Studio

Address: WF5X+7CM Mercury Flats, Triq San Albert, Gżira
Contact Details:+356 9950 9889
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Irina De Magro’s The Sewing Studio is perfect for those looking to make a sensational impression in one of her dresses. She’s an international fashion designer who started in St. Petersburg but has now settled in Malta.
She crafts stunning pieces and accessories, each one-of-a-kind and made-to-measure. I love that she works with both men and women, and asking about a product is as easy as reaching out on WhatsApp.
Her shop has several pieces ranging from dresses to suits to casual clothing (if you can call designer casual clothing). She also has a variety of fabrics available, so clients can easily pick and choose the one that’s best for them.
She also offers warehouse sales where dresses are only €20 to €50! Still, do note that pricing is not always transparent.
Nonetheless, it’s great that she offers alteration services. These are handy if you’ve outgrown or slimmed down since you’ve bought one of her pieces.
The owner is super professional and lovely
“The owner lady is super professional and lovely, although they don’t do alterations anymore but she fixed the zipper on my bag and she didn’t even accept any money. Thanks a lot!💜🌺”

3. Island Tailor Shop

Address: 61 San Piju V, Tas-Sliema SLM 1022
Contact Details: +356 9958 0008
Operating Hours: Monday to Saturday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
At the Island Tailor Shop, they focus more on casual, everyday clothing rather than bespoke set pieces for the runway. This has made them a beloved tailor shop in Malta and a preferred place for locals.
Led by Ms. Ozge, their main tailor, she crafts clothes meticulously. Clients describe her stitching as clean and precise, and they say she is timely and quick with her work. The shop, overall, has a lovely vibe that truly makes you feel welcome.
Aside from custom-made tailoring, she is outstanding at adjustments. I’ve seen her adjust several pieces of clothing in minutes with barely any noticeable hems or stitching. These adjustments can range from €7 to €10, which is fairly affordable.
Lastly, before sending your clothes home, they offer quick, affordable ironing services.
Still, I would like it if Ms. Ozge had a catalogue of all her works because she is truly an amazing tailor.
I’m really happy with the result
“I had the hem adjusted on a pair of pants and a skirt, and I’m really happy with the results. The measurements were done exactly as I wanted, and the tailoring was clean and precise. The fabric was handled with care and the stitching looks very professional. The turnaround time was also quick with no delays. Overall, great service and quality work — definitely a place I’d recommend. Thank you for your effort!”

The best tailor in Malta
“The best tailor in Malta! Very welcomed people working there with very reasonable prices! I needed to fix 2 buttons and remake shorts into skirt – paid 14 euro for all. Job was done quickly, place works 6 days per week. Sewing is wonderful – very neat .
I definitely will come again to have custom made dress.”

4. Gabrielle Fenech

Address: Gabrielle Fenech, Main Street, Balzan
Contact Details: [email protected]
Operating Hours:
- Tuesday to Friday: 1:00 PM to 6:30 PM
- Saturday: 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM
I would describe Gabrielle Fenech’s pieces as muted and laid-back, utilising popular contemporary aesthetics to create designer clothes. Many of her designs are typical everyday clothes that have been redesigned with better fabrics in mind.
While these are her main pieces, she doesn’t shy away from typical custom-made pieces. I find these pieces still have her signature style, but with a more chic and couture vibe that’s fit for the runway.
Aside from that, I like that she’s upfront about her pricing and that her work is customisable. Her work is typically priced between €30 for accessories and €300-€400 for dresses and suits, which is fairly reasonable given the quality.
Additionally, she creates pieces for both men and women, so everyone is catered to.
What sets her apart, though, is her creation of bridal gowns. Each one is bespoke and caters to the bride’s needs.
However, it is disappointing that some of her pieces are always out of stock.
She gave great advice on the design
“Gabrielle designed a custom pinstripe suit for me, and I’m thrilled with the result. She gave great advice on the design, and I let her have creative freedom—it was the best decision! The suit is made from high-quality, natural materials, fits perfectly, and the details are incredible. I’ve gotten so many compliments. If you’re after something custom, unique, and well-made, Gabrielle is the one to go to!”
– Matthew Gauci, Google Review
I was truly impressed with Gabrielle’s dedication
“Highly recommended! I had a custom suit made for a special occasion, and I was truly impressed with Gabrielle’s dedication and attention to detail. She consistently kept me updated on the progress, and her eye for detail is exceptional. I was super happy with the final result and received several compliments on the suit 🙂
If you’re looking for something unique and of high quality, reaching out to Gabrielle is a must!
Keep up the amazing work, Gab!! I’m excited to see more of your unique creations! Keep shining”

5. Zahra Tailors Malta

Address: 129 Triq Il Kan Karm Pirotta, Birkirkara BKR 1141
Contact Details: +356 7712 6734
Operating Hours: Monday to Saturday: 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Zahra Tailors Malta is mainly known for their pattern dresses. Some of their most popular pieces are floral-patterned blouses and shorts made of breathable fabrics. I found these best for the summer months.
She also embraces typical dresses, with mermaid and sheath dresses being her speciality. I’ve also met customers who have commissioned casual clothing, like blouses, which turned out great.
Zahra is even known for creating a variety of accessories, including shawls and scarves. She can also make casual clothing, such as trousers, as well as traditional garb from different cultures.
Uniquely, she can even make different types of face masks that can pair well with everyday clothing. Clients have even commissioned curtains, quilts, and bed sheets from her, which have all turned out amazing.
However, I was disappointed by her shop’s location, as it can be difficult to reach Birkirkara due to traffic.
