The 4 best tutoring services in Malta to boost your exam success

Experience and Specialisations: I chose tutoring services with more than a year of experience and specialising in Math, English, and Science, as these are the most common subjects.

Variety of Teaching Styles: I selected tutoring services that offer face-to-face, online, or one-on-one sessions, so students can choose the option that best suits them.

Length of Sessions: I selected tutoring services that have a decent length of two to three hours per session, which is ideal for both working and non-working students.

Flexibility of Schedules: I chose tutoring services that can easily adjust to their students' schedules, specifically those that offer night and weekend classes.

The best way to get ahead in life is to start early, and there’s no better place to do that than in school. While parents can easily teach their kids, some subjects simply might not be their forte.

This is where tutoring services come into play. These dedicated individuals condense lessons down and help students understand them easily—sometimes better than their school teachers.

I’ve personally spoken to several neighbours and family members to compile a list of the best tutoring services in Malta. So, let’s get ready to ace that test.

How much does a tutoring service cost in Malta?

A tutoring service in Malta typically costs around €10 to €30 per hour. This price can easily increase or decrease depending on the packages offered, the tutoring service’s location, and its specialisations.

Tutoring at Vella Bonello Education is perfect for those looking for A-Level and Intermediate learning courses. They have locations in Mosta, Malta, and Gozo, which are all easily accessible by car and public transport.

They take students from secondary school to sixth form, when grades matter most. Many students sing praises after being tutored here in Math and English, stating that it made the material feel easier.

Aside from tutoring, they offer mock exams. These often have three time slots, varying depending on the day, and are often held at The George, St. Julian’s.

I also appreciate that they offer free sessions from time to time through live webinars. Rather than repeating what they already teach, they offer unique courses in different fields, such as Law, Banking, and Statistics.

Located in Hal Balzan, EveryBrain Tuition is a reliable tutor that specialises in several subjects for A-Level, Intermediate, and O-Level courses.

Classes are taught by Eman Vassallo, who often focuses on Maths and Physics. But he is not limited to them, as he can teach basic Marketing, English, and Psychology courses.

Aside from this, he provides comprehensive notes for the classes that he teaches. These are extensive and often full of additional information that he doesn’t get to teach in regular classes. These notes are fairly cheap at around €29.99.

I highly commend Eman for providing free audio lectures to his students. These cover subjects such as Philosophy, Sociology, and English Literature. I would still prefer the private lessons, since they are much more extensive.

However, some parents have reported that contacting Eman can be difficult, so I’d recommend visiting his Facebook page instead.

Pros

  • Specialises in several subjects
  • Works with a wide range of year levels
  • Focuses on Math and Physics
  • Fairly cheap services
  • Offers free audio lectures

Cons

  • Difficult to contact

Trusted Tutors is best for those seeking help in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

Some of their more popular subjects are Mathematics, Biology, and English. These either cover a single year group of 4 different ones, examples being A-Levels, Intermediate, and Primary.

They can even teach business-related courses for business majors.

Better yet, they are great language teachers. From French to Spanish, they can teach you to speak almost as well as a local can. I have even met a few expats who availed their services to learn Maltese.

Classes with them are either online or face-to-face, so students have a variety to choose from. Aside from that, they offer a variety of class formats, ranging from solo tutoring to group classes with students at the same level.

Just note that some students had trouble getting here for in-person classes due to traffic in Msida.

Pros

  • Best for Arts and Humanities
  • Wide range of tutoring services
  • Flexible schedules
  • Provides a variety of class formats

Cons

  • Situated in a traffic-heavy area

The tutors were professional, well-prepared, and adapted to the needs of each subject. The overall communication and support from the Trusted Tutors team were consistent and helpful throughout.

We saw steady improvement and felt more confident going into the exams. I’d be happy to recommend them to others looking for flexible and supportive tutoring.”

Trusted Tutors is a top choice

“If you’re searching for a reliable and flexible tutoring service, Trusted Tutors is a top choice. My experience with them has been exceptional!

On many occasions (I have 2 boys and I use Trusted Tutors for both of them) Trusted Tutors promptly matched me with the professionals tutors who would be available at the specific time that we needed (and that is very limited with all the other activities during the week).

One of the greatest strengths of Trusted Tutors is their flexibility. They offer a variety of class formats to fit different learning preferences and schedules. Whether you prefer online lessons, in-person sessions or group classes, they accommodate it all.

I am very happy I found them! Highly recommended!”

For the little ones, I would definitely head to Study Studio Malta. Their tutors work with students from years 1 to 6 and mainly focus on English and Maths.

Sessions at Study Studio are typically done in small groups and are often face-to-face. A majority of the time here will be focused on reading and support sessions, which help students understand concepts that they may find difficult in class.

Afterwards, students are given time to do their homework, while tutors guide them and help revise their work to get higher grades.

Additionally, they also have daily Maltese conversation classes, which are a beneficial way for the little ones to learn the island’s language.

Each class is priced at €18-€18.75, which is cheap. Luckily, they also offer value packages that range from €30 to €190 per month.

However, you can lose a few lessons if you don’t join at the beginning of the month.

Pros

  • Primary-focused tutoring
  • Classes are held in small groups
  • Wide range of tutoring services
  • Cheap classes
  • Offers value packages

Cons

  • Late starters may lose lessons

A fantastic teacher

“Ms Midja is a fantastic teacher! She has been giving my daughter Julia private lessons in both reading and maths, and I’ve seen such a big improvement in her skills and confidence. Over the summer, Ms Midja worked so much with Julia and helped her progress far more than I expected. Julia actually loves going to her lessons and always comes out happy and motivated. I will definitely continue sending her to Ms Midja. Highly recommended!”

Study Studio did an incredible job

“Study Studio did an incredible job of bringing both of my daughters who couldn’t speak a word if Maltese up to speed with the rest of their classmates. Ms Midja creates a wonderful atmosphere of learning that had both of my daughters looking forward to her lessons from week to week.”
