The 5 best toy stores in Malta where fun and learning go hand in hand
In the digital age, it’s always tempting to buy kids’ toys online. Most merchandise is already sold there, but it can be difficult to test these items beforehand, unlike when you buy them from a market or a dedicated shop.
It’s great to hear that toy stores haven’t completely disappeared in Malta. Unlike online shops, kids can easily check out the items here and find ones that truly resonate with them and their imagination.
With that, I’ve talked to family and friends with kids and compiled my list of the best toy stores in Malta. These spots are great places for kids to browse and find toys they’ll love.
1. Swanky Boutique Children’s Store

Swanky Boutique was established in 2016 and has focused on providing sustainable, high-quality products for toddlers through 10-year-olds. I particularly value that their staff is well-trained in caring for children and helping them choose the toy best suited to their needs.
They have over 80 children’s brands, some of which are sold exclusively by them. These popular brands, including Jellycat, Djeco, and Connetix, truly show their range.
While they don’t have familiar brands like Barbie and Lego, their toys are beloved by customers because they are sturdy and focus on education rather than just play. Personally, I found the Activity Chicken, fairly priced at €21.95, to be an entertaining and educational tool.
Aside from these, I find it very convenient that party items are sold here as well.
But if you’d rather skip the trip outside, you can have your items delivered straight to your door anywhere in Malta and Gozo. They even offer a 30-minute delivery option for select items on the Wolt app. It’s perfect for when you need something fast.

2. The Model Shop

The Model Shop houses some of the most popular brands of the 21st century. Established in 1983, The Model Shop has grown to over 9 outlet stores, with the Iklin store being its most popular.
Some notable brands they house include Labubus, Disney, and LEGO. If you’re unsure which toy would be best, I’d peruse their useful blog that has product guides for each item.
It’s impressive that they can import items such as the Micro Scooter, Europe’s No. 1 scooter brand. I also appreciate their Pocket Money section for kids who want to spend their allowance on a toy, such as a Hot Wheels, cheaply priced at €3.75.
Additionally, they sell party supplies and even candy, perfect for birthdays and other events. But what I like most is their free next-day delivery when you spend over €45.
Just note that the store is often packed, so allocate enough time for a visit due to long queues.

I love that Toy Magic is a family-run toy store dedicated to providing toys for Maltese children for over 30 years. They’re known for their wide selection of toys and unbeatable after-sales service.
Puzzles, board games, and card games are the most popular items at Toy Magic. While their items are expensive, with most costing over €10, these are popular brands with the best quality.
Of course, they house items such as Barbie, but they also carry educational toys, such as Lexibook, SmartTrike strollers, and bikes. Additionally, customers can shop by age on their website, which I found quite handy.
The store also has themed toys for movies and even has a section for adults that sell Pokemon, Minecraft, and Warhammer memorabilia. But honestly, parents will probably fall for their outdoor section too—mini playhouses, foldable slides, and splash-ready pools.

Junior’s Toy Shop has been a happy place for Malta’s kids since 1992. They have 6 stores across the island and offer a mix of popular and exclusive toy brands.
Uniquely, they have toys ranging from toddlers to 18-year-olds. The shop itself has dedicated sections for brands and characters, including LEGO, superheroes, and even Star Wars.
Their toys are fairly priced too, with most ranging between €10 to €30. Impressively, they’re one of the few shops that sell drones, which is rare to find in a toy store.
Additionally, they’re connected with the Lava Rewards App, perfect for that little bit of cashback. Customers can also order their items through the Wolt or the Bolt apps, which are useful for smaller toys.
The after-sales service is also quite useful, as items are returnable up to 90 days.
However, their shops are quite small, so it may be difficult to enter when using strollers or pushchairs.
Amazing San Gwann toy store
“Amazing San Gwann toy store–perhaps the best toy store in Malta. 3 levels full of inventory presented in an organized, well-planned layout. Lots of friendly staff available to assist and make suggestions. The top level is almost entirely Lego, and seeing this alone make visiting worthwhile. Great place to come looking for gifts–there is something for everyone. There are outdoor toys like Frisbees and motorised ride-in cars, a whole section for dolls, Funko Pop! Vinyl figures, and even classic board games like Twister, Monopoly, and Battleship. Highly recommend visiting this toy store in San Gwann.”

A dedicated toy store, ESL Gross Market, has been servicing Malta for the last 50 years. The shop is mainly for retailers, but customers can also browse its items and buy them wholesale—often at a discount.
ESL has several different types of toys available. Most notable of these are their outdoor, boardgames, and educational games. These range from traditional Uno to a children’s archery set, which truly showcases their range.
There are also ride-on toys and battery-powered vehicles that are great at teaching kids about spatial awareness. Most of these toys are displayed in their shop, and customers are free to explore all 5 floors.
Aside from their store, I appreciate that their website is constantly updated with their stock and available items. They even offer free delivery for orders above €40 to anywhere in Malta and Gozo.
However, they mainly sell generic toys, and rarely have branded ones in stock.
