3 best massage schools in Malta where future master masseurs are made

Accreditations: I considered massage schools that are accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority.

Curriculum: I selected massage schools that offer courses rated at Level 3 or Level 4 under the Malta Qualifications Framework.

Training Programmes and Experience: I mainly picked massage schools that have programmes that let students train at well-known spas and massage parlours.

Capabilities of Instructors: I placed strong emphasis on the capabilities of their instructors, assessing them against clear criteria to ensure each one holds the appropriate qualifications while also bringing extensive real-world experience.

Learning a skill can be difficult, especially when it involves other people. Giving good massages doesn’t just come naturally; it’s a skill that needs to be honed and learned, and a proper teacher is needed to do it right.

Personally, I believe that massage schools are the best avenue to learn. While a single teacher is great, a curated course can provide a better learning experience and help students blossom into professionals.

So, I have discussed this with local massage parlours, and we have compiled our list of the best massage schools in Malta. It’s through their expertise that they can create a new generation of masseurs.

How much is the tuition fee at a massage school in Malta?

The tuition fee at a massage school in Malta often ranges between €850 to €2,000 for a full course. The price itself entirely depends on the school’s facilities, its reputation, and the turnout and passing rate of students.

Kallidora Academy provides courses that encompass beauty, wellness, and holistic therapies. Established in 1996, Kallidora has been leading the charge in teaching students a variety of different massage techniques.

I appreciate that courses cover a wide range of topics, ranging from holistic massages to reflexology treatments. As for the duration, it takes around 8-9 months, which is a decent length.

On the other hand, pricing ranges from €1,700 to €1,900, which is relatively expensive. However, flexible payment schemes are available for students, including a more forgiving plan that requires only a €450 deposit.

Classes are worth it in my opinion, as these are extensive and provide constant assessment to students. Students can also try out other programmes while learning their specialisation, which is top-notch.

I also like that lessons happen in person, while theory lessons are completely online and pre-recorded.

Pros

  • Over 25 years of service
  • Wide range of courses
  • Decent duration of classes
  • Offers payment schemes
  • Extensive assessments
  • Variety in class set-ups

Cons

  • Expensive tuition fees

An absolutely wonderful experience

“Studying at kallidora Academy was an absolutely wonderful experience for me. As a foreigner without perfect English, I was nervous at first, but I always found patience, support, and genuine care.

Thanks to the academy and especially to Lorna, I gained not only strong technical skills in sports massage, but also the tools and confidence to truly help people and honor this profession.

I will always be grateful for this experience.”

With over 23 years of success stories, the International School of Beauty Therapy is a CIBTAC and CIDESCO-accredited school that has graduated students in spas and salons across Malta and Gozo.

I like that the school has over 70 graduates per year and teaches over 15 courses, which are world-renowned. Practical experiences are done in their classrooms, and students appreciate the amount of care and effort their teachers provide.

As for courses, they have a dedicated class for body massages. I was impressed to learn that this gives students a fully accredited Level 3 Diploma, allowing them to be fully-fledged massage therapists.

Other courses include diplomas for Indian Head Massages, facial services, and makeup application. The results speak for themselves as they have over 2,000 graduates who have gone to work across Malta and the world.

However, the application process is quite stringent. The interview is quite difficult based on the experience of others.

Pros

  • Over 20 years of service
  • Over 70 graduates per year
  • Level 3 Diploma
  • Wide range of courses

Cons

  • Difficult interview process

If I had to choose again, I would still go to them

“It’s my absolute pleasure to recommend the International School of Beauty Therapy. I just did a body massage diploma course. I thoroughly enjoyed my time studying there. The teachers are all professionals, highly skilled and well prepared. A big thank you for Sharon, Sonia, Rosanne & Gabi for sharing their knowledge and always manage to foster positive discussions and bring the best out of us. Besides that there is an incredible vibe there; they make you feel like you are part of a big family. Without a doubt, I confidently recommend the ISBT.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the International School of Beauty Therapy. High-quality training, the teachers are all great professionals. The atmosphere during my time there was always great, by the end we felt like a big family. If I had to choose again, I would go to them again.”

Biocare Academy has been providing great beauty lessons for more than 15 years. Through their programmes, students are able to learn insider knowledge of Malta’s beauty industry that will set them apart from others.

Courses here are internationally accredited, and I like that they span a wide range of skills, mainly makeup and personal training.

It’s their reflexology studies that drew my attention, focusing on specialisations rather than a general diploma. These include great choices such as Level 3 Certification for Swedish Body Massages and reflexology for cancer care.

Other lessons include nail art, aromatherapy studies, and Reiki.

Pricing-wise, it varies but typically ranges between a €150 to €250 for a full course, which is quite accessible. Yet again, their classes only last for a few days at most, which is disappointing compared to other schools.

Pros

  • Over 15 years of service
  • Wide range of courses
  • Level 3 Certifications
  • Cheap lessons

Cons

  • Classes only last a few days
