5 best delivery services in Malta that’ve got your back (and your packages!)

  • Delivery Time: We focused on customer feedback regarding delivery speed. By checking reviews and looking for mentions of delayed or timely deliveries, we identified services that consistently met their delivery estimates.
  • Order Accuracy: We analysed reviews for patterns related to missing or incorrect items. A service with frequent complaints about wrong deliveries or missing products didn’t make the cut.
  • Ease of Use: We also checked the ease of navigating each service’s app or website. If customers mentioned glitches, confusing layouts, or difficulty placing orders, those services were rated lower.
  • Customer Support: We evaluated the responsiveness and helpfulness of the customer service teams when issues arose. Companies that addressed issues quickly and effectively were prioritised.
  • Availability: We verified the coverage areas mentioned in reviews to assess the reliability of each service in various parts of Malta and Gozo. Services that frequently had issues with availability or location-based delivery were excluded.

It’s easy to blame the delivery app when your order goes wrong. But more often than not, it’s the business choosing a dodgy courier that’s really at fault, leading to cold food, missing items, or parcels dumped miles from your door.

Whether you’re tired of waiting around or running a business that relies on dependable delivery, knowing which services actually deliver makes all the difference.

After enduring countless lost packages and late meals, we’ve put the top delivery services in Malta to the test. And we found five that mostly get it right.

Here are the ones that stood out.

How much do delivery services cost in Malta?

Delivery services in Malta usually cost between €3 and €10. However, that depends on the distance and order size. Some offer free delivery for large orders, while others may charge extra for express or peak-time deliveries.

1. SkyNet Malta

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

We first heard about SkyNet through local forums where small business owners vouched for them, especially for e-commerce deliveries across Malta and Gozo.

As part of the Collcher Group legacy, SkyNet is a well-rooted name with services tailored to regular business needs. And what stood out to us is their Return2k Service, which helps locals easily return items to UK-based retailers.

Booking is also relatively easy, as it involves a quick phone call or their online system. Plus, the business runs daily, with a transit time of 2-3 working days and full tracking. It’s ideal for frequent online shoppers.

We also appreciate that they handle specialised airfreight, from pharmaceuticals and perishables to live animals and hazardous goods. We believe only a few competitors offer the same.

However, communication can fall short when things go wrong. A few users said reaching support during delivery issues was frustrating.

Pros

  • Great for local e-commerce deliveries
  • Easy return to UK-based retailers
  • Convenient online and phone booking
  • Provides real-time tracking

Cons

  • Poor support during issues

Good staff members and an efficient system

“You phone this company and they answer the phone, immediately, in English (native English speaker). They give you the mobile number of the delivery driver. She answers immediately and gives an totally accurate ETA. She knows the geography of Malta as Maltese. I am called 2 minutes before for a contactless ‘relay’ delivery. I even knew it was her as her number plate has the first 3 letters of her name on it! There is a lot to be said for having good staff members and an efficient system.”

Amazing service

“The official number you can find on google maps, The nice lady with a British accent is really helpful and polite, She asked me for the shipping number and gave me the number of courier that is in charge with my parcel, I called courier Chrissie she is amazing she answered and brought me package in the time that we spoke… Amazing service, you don’t wait on office number 5min to someone to pick and they gave you the number of courier and you can talk with him( from expirience of DHL they “don’t know” the numbers of courier etc…) Chears guys keep up the good work!!!”

You’ve probably heard of eCabs as Malta’s go-to ride-hailing service, but they also offer a delivery service via Fastdrop. They cater to both businesses and individuals, providing 24/7 local deliveries across Malta and Gozo.

What makes them stand out are the ultra-fast options. “Deliver now” ensures packages are delivered within 60 minutes of pickup, while the “deliver tomorrow” guarantees arrival within 24 hours.

These features are especially useful in busy areas like Sliema and St. Julian’s, where quick drop-offs are crucial.

Yet again, we encountered some Reddit users who experienced issues with delays. It included a case where a package was incorrectly marked as delivered hours before it arrived. Their customer service wasn’t always quick to respond to these cases, either.

Regardless, we still like their real-time tracking, e-commerce integration, and proof of delivery, all of which add a layer of trust. And let’s not forget that booking is straightforward too.

Pros

  • Fast and reliable delivery in busy areas
  • 24/7 deliveries across Malta and Gozo
  • Has ultra-fast options
  • Real-time tracking and proof of delivery
  • E-commerce platform integration

Cons

  • Occasional delays in deliveries
  • Customer support could use some improvement

All expectations were met or even exceeded

“𝟓 ⭐️ 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁: All expectations were met or even exceeded to an outstanding experience. I can’t speak for the other classes however we had booked the Executive Class for our airport transfer and we were left impressed by the amount of professionalism & elegance. The driver arrived way before the scheduled time and waited for us patiently. He was dressed very well and adhered to the code of conduct & courtesy of a luxury business — crème de la crème! ✨ The drive itself was very smooth and there were also cool bottles of water prepared for us and it was ensured to enjoy a high-class experience till the very end! A leading example compared to similar services of this category from well-known companies!”

We were so happy with his service

“I used Ecabs for the first time at the arrival in Malta.  Ranaldo who picked us up was so lovely very polite.  We were so happy with his service.  We used Ecab again on our departure we were lucky after three drivers refused to help we had Carl. He was a blessing very polite and very caring.  It is nice there are caring polite humans like Renaldo and Carl.  Thank you both for your help with us three ladies one in a wheelchair”

A friend used Courier Express for several business-related deliveries and was thoroughly impressed with the service, especially in terms of handling time-sensitive shipments. According to him, the couriers were punctual and consistent.

Another standout is their 1-hour document express guarantee. This service is especially useful for sending urgent legal paperwork, contracts, or even last-minute gifts that simply must reach the recipient quickly.

While the same-day delivery option is popular, a few users mentioned delays during weekdays, from 10 AM to 5 PM. In fact, one customer expected a delivery by 10 AM, but it didn’t arrive until mid-afternoon.

Even so, many past clients highlighted Courier Express’ real-time tracking and bulk booking via CSV upload, which simplified the process of sending out multiple parcels at once.

Their WooCommerce Integration is another major advantage, especially for local online stores. By linking directly to the order system, it helps automate dispatching and reduces manual input.

Pros

  • Great for time-sensitive deliveries
  • Offers a 1-hour document express guarantee
  • Has a real-time tracker
  • Has a bulk booking feature via CSV
  • Uses the WooCommerce Integration system

Cons

  • Occasional delays during weekdays

Express Trailers has long been recognised for expertise in freight forwarding.

But their platform, Shiplowcost, extends that expertise to both local and international deliveries. This is suited for both individuals and businesses, especially those shipping bulky or high-value items.

From what we’ve gathered, they don’t impose tight size or weight limits. They handle items up to 3.5m long or 1,500 kilograms, which most couriers don’t.

They also have a handy “Measure My Parcel” tool on their site that helps avoid mistakes during booking. For added peace of mind, you can opt for shipment insurance at 1% of the item’s value, with a minimum coverage of €3.

Another plus is their transparency regarding pricing. They have the reliable parcel tracking feature, which many users have vouched for.

Still, a few users flagged unclear return policies for international shipments. So, while Shiplowcost is great for big, tricky parcels, returns could be much smoother.

Pros

  • Reasonable and transparent pricing
  • Expert in local and international deliveries
  • Doesn’t impose strict size or weight limits on deliveries
  • Has a “Measure My Parcel” tool feature
  • Offers item value insurance at 1%

Cons

  • Unclear return policies

Highly recommended service

“I recently used Express Trailers to assist with customs processing for the release of my vehicle purchased from the UK, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the service I received. From the very beginning, the professionalism was evident, and Sandro, who I worked with throughout the entire process, was exceptional. Sandro’s expertise and knowledge were invaluable, and he guided me through every step with ease. He was always quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had, ensuring that I felt informed and reassured at all times. His helpfulness and professionalism made what could have been a stressful experience completely smooth and hassle-free. The service was also very reasonably priced, which was an added bonus. I highly recommend Express Trailers and especially Sandro for anyone needing assistance with customs or similar services. Thank you for making this process so seamless!”

Very professional service

“This is one of very few companies in Malta that is very very professional. I’ve imported cars, furniture, small packages, the lot. They have good prices and good service, all depots. They are helpful and cheerful, I feel like the employees are treated well. Once, they imported thousands of calenders for my children’s sports club, at cost when I approached them, as it was for charity. I appreciate this and their service, and I will go out of my way to recommend them, which for me is rare!”

5. Miles Express

Operating Hours:

Coming from more budget-focused services like Shiplowcost, Miles Express feels a lot more business-focused and is expensive for small deliveries.

Perhaps we think it’s also because they’ve been around since the late 1980s and are primarily known for their international shipping and express courier services.

Now, they also offer flexible booking options, including ad hoc deliveries and bulk bookings via CSV upload. We really love these features because they make life easier for businesses handling multiple shipments.

For urgent deliveries, their fleet of motorcycles is also deemed reliable. They ensure timely and confidential document transport, often on the same day or the next, across Malta and Gozo.

Additionally, we appreciate that their client portal receives high marks for streamlining the entire booking and tracking process.

However, a few users noted that customer support was slower during peak hours.

Pros

  • Over 20 years of experience
  • Polished service with international shipping
  • Flexible booking options
  • Offers ad hoc deliveries and bulk bookings via CSV upload
  • Provides freight forwarding solutions
  • Simplified booking and tracking

Cons

  • Expensive for small deliveries
  • Slower support response during peak times

Delighted with the service

“Used Miles Express for the first time last week and was delighted with the service. Booked the collection (in Gozo) at about 5pm and my package (a computer) was collected within the hour and was safely at the destination in Mosta first thing the following morning. The return journey was just as quick and €15 each way was excellent value for money. Very happy with the service and communication, especially from Edward and Predrag. Definitely using Miles Express again.”

Fantastic people and excellent service

“Fantastic people and equivalent service. The only downside is that there is no waiting area for customers when collecting parcels. Since its a store it tends to be busy with people running around while you wait. But still a thumbs up.”
