Master floating at these 5 best swimming lesson centres in Malta
Water safety is almost a must when living in Malta. Learning to swim can help anyone understand the dangers of the sea and develop the skills needed to handle water-related emergencies.
The way to do this is through swimming lessons. I found that Malta has a great selection of these across the island, with dedicated ones for younger and older learners.
With that in mind, I’ve rounded up some of the best swimming lesson centres in Malta, where kids—and even adults—can learn to swim with confidence at our favourite local spots.
How much do swimming lessons cost in Malta?
Swimming lessons in Malta typically cost around €30 to €60 per hour. This price can fluctuate based on the packages available, the number of swimmers per class, and the duration of each class.
1. Yue

Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 5:30 AM to 10:00 PM
- Saturday: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Sunday: 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Yue is a beloved activity centre in Naxxar. I like that they host a variety of programmes that cater to several different backgrounds, fitness levels, and ages.
It was impressive to tour the place, especially seeing the state-of-the-art facilities they have—such as a gym, pools, and even a clinic.
Swimming lessons are offered in two formats: 1-on-1 sessions or group classes. A single 45-minute 1-on-1 lesson usually costs around €30, while a package of 10 sessions is about €285—quite reasonable for the personalised attention you get.
For group classes, they’re divided by age group. Babies and preschoolers absolutely adore the Giggle ‘n’ Splash class. As for older children and young teens, they have lots of fun at Rob’s Swim Class.
Pregnant women, on the other hand, have a dedicated class for them called the Pre-Natal Aqua classes.
But do note that pre-booking is a must, and you can’t miss a class.
My new training place
“My new training place. Love it. Modern new machines, helpful staff, not too busy which is important so I can workout without waiting too much. Having some personal training sessions with Kim too. She is very good, it’s given me the boost that I needed to get started again. A much needed change.”

2. Glide

Contact Details: +356 7921 1895
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 5:30 AM to 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 5:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Glide is a dedicated swimming class service that offers classes for all ages. I appreciate their classes for all skill levels.
There’s a wide range of programmes here that students really enjoy. The master’s programme is perfect for those who want to socialise while learning the ropes. I also appreciate how they cater to adults of all skill levels, tailoring lessons to each individual’s needs.
If group lessons aren’t your style, reliable individual coaching is available. This is ideal for children just learning to swim or adults who need a bit more guidance and attention.
Astonishingly, this inclusive service also caters to neurodiverse clients. There’s also the sports rehab service, which is best for hydrotherapy patients.
However, classes are strictly term-based, so lessons aren’t available during the off-season.
The social events make it a great opportunity for adults to connect
“I joined the Masters swimming classes last October to improve my flexibility, strength, technique, and overall health, particularly as I entered perimenopause. The heated pool made a huge difference, easing my worries about feeling cold and circulation issues during winter. Coach Maya is incredibly attentive, offering personalised technical corrections along with constant encouragement and motivation. A special mention to Coach Jeff for creating such a positive, supportive team dynamic among both coaches and swimmers. It’s a welcoming club with lovely people, and the social events make it a great opportunity for adults to connect as well as train. Highly recommended!”

I can say that I can swim professionally with a group of very friendly people
“Swimming has always been a sport I adore; however, never found a professional school to train with. Found Glide Aquatics through social media adverts 2 years ago and I can say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made! Now
I can say that I can swim professionally with a group of very friendly people.
Swimming has become very important to my lifestyle as it really helps me managing with daily stress, to unwind, focus and maintain a healthy lifestyle 💪🏻 Thank you Glide!”

3. Aquababies Malta

Address: 34 Nicolo’ Isouard Street, Il-Mosta MST1132
Contact Details: +356 2099 9591
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 1:45 PM
For babies and kiddies, I would highly recommend Aquababies. With over 30 years of service, several generations of Maltese children have learned to float through their coaches.
Classes are split between Aquababies and Aquakiddies, depending on the age of the student. Parents appreciate that sessions are split between levels, and each session is cheap at around €26.
There are even 1:1 and 2:1 sessions available for babies and kids.
I simply adore that they provide all the necessary equipment for the children and offer catch-up classes. They also provide refunds for classes missed, which is a nice touch.
However, for parents looking to record their baby’s lessons, cameras and mobile phones aren’t allowed.
Despite this restriction, Aquababies stands out with five venues across Malta and Gozo, highlighting its popularity among local parents.
It’s a real joy to watch
“Our 16 month old joined his first semester with Aquababies this year. He attends the class with his Papa. I cannot state enough how much his confidence and enjoyment in the water has soared since partcipating in this class program. Not just that but the benefits also extend to how he strengthened his bond with his Papa. As a stay at home mum, our son spends a lot of time with me. Since these classes begun, he loves to leave to go with Papa, listens very well to him and thoroughly enjoys his one on one time with Papa.
It’s a real joy to watch. Thank you Aquababies! And see you next term.”

Perfect place for parents and children to connect
“Aquababies is the perfect place for parents and children to connect together and also learn safety and involve themselves in interesting activities where a child will learn how to swim, how to enjoy time in the water whilst being safe and cautious from a very young age. The teachers leading the sessions are super professional and always so caring and loving towards our little ones helping them to reach milestones and develop their skills when it comes to swimming. We Highly recommend aquababies”

4. Finz Aquatics Club

Address: Sirens Swimming Pool, St Paul’s Bay
Contact Details: +356 7990 9029
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Sunday: Open 24 hours
Finz Aquatics Club offers small group lessons that offer big progress for all ages. I was impressed to learn that these classes were founded and taught by Nikki Muscat, a two-time Olympic swimmer.
Finz Aquatics Club also teaches students the proper techniques when swimming, rather than basic strokes. Additionally, students don’t have to worry since the centre is affiliated with the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta.
Classes are split between adult and children’s classes. I found these sessions to be a fun experience that allows students to connect over their love of the sport.
The children’s classes are separated into age groups and have fun names, such as seahorses and dolphins. As for the adult classes, they are bundled into one, with a dedicated date per skill level.
However, I was surprised by how expensive the classes are. A weekly class can cost between €210 to €420, with a newcomer fee of €22. But don’t worry, the quality of the lessons makes up for this steep price.
I am hooked and kept going for general fitness
“I’ve been going to the adult classes with Finz since January. It started from wanting to learn better technique, and now I am hooked and kept going for general fitness. Each session is tailored to the group, other swimmers are all friendly too so the atmosphere is really nice. Coaches are super helpful and give you individual attention.”

Cannot recommend Finz Aquatics Club enough
“Cannot recommend Finz Aquatics Club enough. Thanks to the fantastic coaches, my swimming technique has improved tremendously in less than a year. With every class I feel more and more confident, and it’s great to have finally found a form of exercise I really enjoy!”

5. National Pool Complex (Sports Malta)

Address: WF3Q+F25, Triq Luqa Briffa, Il-Gżira
Contact Details: +356 2203 6000
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 5:30 AM to 10:00 PM
- Saturday: 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Sunday: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
The National Pool Complex is one of Sports Malta’s facilities, and is one of the largest pools on the island. This sports complex was built to promote and inspire Maltese to represent their nation to the world through sports, and I can certainly see the charm.
I like that there’s a variety in pool sizes, such as the 50-meter pool, as well as a 25-meter one. Additionally, I find the membership fees to be quite reasonable, at around €85 to €200 per year. If that isn’t your style, they have 1 session slips for €6 to €12, respectively.
These programmes focus on the basics more than anything else, teaching swimming techniques and water safety. Additionally, they help students learn to control their breathing while underwater, which is a great skill to have.
While swimming lessons aren’t always available, they’re typically taught every summer or spring. Be quick, though, as these are limited slots only.
Not too many people in each lane, so you can swim easily
“Nice 50 mt with 10 lanes pool to make good training.
Near the Olympic pool there is a 25 mt pool.
The water is salty.
Not too many people in each lane, so you can swim easily.
Track start blocks, wide stands and a big screen to make good competitions.
Not so big the dressing rooms and no hair dryer but it’s not a problem.
The weather is nice during all the year to swim outdoor.”
– Roberto Tonelli, Google Review
An excellent facility with friendly and helpful staff
“The National Pool Complex in Malta is an excellent facility with friendly and helpful staff who take the time to explain everything you need to know. During winter, swimming in the heated 50m outdoor pool is a fantastic experience—perfect for staying active while enjoying the fresh air. Highly recommended for swimmers of all levels looking for a well-maintained and enjoyable environment!”
