Move to the groove at these 5 dance studios in Malta

  • Studio Facilities and Flooring: We toured each space to test the sprung floors ourselves and ensure good airflow, as well as full-wall mirrors.
  • Instructor Expertise: We reviewed the instructors' bios and attended trial classes to assess both their credentials and teaching styles. We picked studios whose coaches could break down complex moves into steps we could actually follow.
  • Class Variety and Schedule: We compared timetables to find studios offering a range of classes, from classic ballet to urban jazz. We also ensured that there are early morning and late evening slots to accommodate hectic calendars.
  • Community Vibe: We examined student reviews and studio social media feeds to understand how dancers support one another’s progress.
  • Location and Accessibility: We mapped studios close to bus stops or free parking zones to avoid any pre-class parking scrambles.

When practising at home, we’re constantly bumping into furniture. Our living room wasn’t exactly built for choreography.

Plus, our phone camera provides no feedback, and without mirrors, we have no way of knowing if our posture is even close to correct. Then there are the mopeds and barking dogs turning every dance move funny by accident.

So, we thought that a dance studio in Malta could make all the difference. A spacious sprung floor, full-wall mirror, and distraction-free zone would be superb.

We started browsing and checking out studios in town, and here are the spots where we found the rhythm and pictured ourselves nailing that routine.

How much do dance studio classes cost in Malta?

Dance studio classes in Malta typically cost between €8 and €15 for a single drop-in group class. However, prices vary depending on the membership packages. These include different class types, instructor experience, and studio amenities.

Strictly 360 Dance Studios is one of the best in Malta, started by experienced dancers Laurence and Consuela. Every class feels fun, focused, and full of energy.

The two 250 m² studios have wooden sprung floors, big wall mirrors, and strong air conditioning that keeps things comfy. Between classes, many students enjoy hanging out at the refreshment bar or relaxing on the sunny terrace.

They offer everything from ballroom to custom wedding dances, and all skill levels are welcome. We especially like the themed socials and the yearly Malta Latin Spring Dance Camp. But just a heads-up: classes fill fast, so we always recommend booking early.

On the teaching side, the instructors combine strong dance backgrounds with clear, patient, step-by-step guidance—even we can follow along.

We also appreciate the warm and encouraging community spirit that makes every session feel like a mini-celebration.

Steps Ahead Dance Academy is Malta’s largest dedicated dance space—a 600 m² of airy space. It lets solo practitioners and full-company workshops run side by side without ever stepping on each other’s toes.

Inside, a full-size ballroom and two mirrored studios feature premium parquet floors and JBL sound. We love the heated showers and personal lockers for seamless warm-ups and cool-downs.

Their classes cover Tiny Toes, Dance Fun, adult ballroom, and Pro-Am coaching. Wedding packages even feature emergency one-on-one lessons and hen-party workshops you won’t want to miss.

We also adore the attached cafe gallery. Its comfy lounge chairs, rotating local art exhibitions, and light-bite menu make it the perfect spot to recharge between classes. Though we dislike missing out when it fills up fast.

Instructors bring championships, and the coaching is very encouraging, which we truly value. They break down routines into bite-sized drills and give personalised feedback mid-class.

Pros

  • Malta’s largest studio
  • Premium floors, mirrors and JBL sound
  • Has heated showers, lockers, and a cafe gallery
  • Offers top-notch classes for kids and pros
  • Expert instructors

Cons

Incredibly patient and understanding instructors

“Me and my now wife decided to prepare a choreographed dance for the first dance at our wedding. We attended a package of 8 sessions at steps ahead with Lisa as our instructor. We honestly didnt have very high expectations as we both never danced before and thought it would be hard for us to learn a whole dance in such a short time. However Lisa was absolutely amazing with us, she thought us a beautiful dance which turned out incredible at our wedding. She is incredibly patient, understanding and flexible which we loved because we were both quite busy in the days leading up to the wedding but Lisa worked with us and we managed to make it 🙂 Absolutely recommended!!!”

Excellent & great atmosphere

“I remember Denzil and Rossella as being students themselves. They have reached a professional level and opened their own dance academy. Now that I have resumed dancing after a number of years I did not think twice which school I had to choose, Steps Ahead Dance Academy. Denzil, Rossella and their dance instructors are very professional, teaching with great dedication and attention to detail when it comes to technique and that is what makes them stand out more than other dancing schools. Great atmosphere, excellent dancing studio and lots of fun. I highly recommend this school. Well done to all!!”

Kinetic Dance Academy is one of Malta’s fastest-growing dance academies. It boasts purpose-built studios that meet every dancer’s needs. We can appreciate the premium floors and sound systems, which set it up for practice.

Under the artistic direction of Clayton Mifsud and Daphne Gatt, the championship-level faculty brings boundless energy and top-tier expertise.

Kinetic’s curriculum encompasses jazz, aerial arts, and conditioning for all skill levels. We loved last year’s Grand Circus at MCC Valletta. With over 500 performers, it was an electric atmosphere that always has us buzzing.

Thanks to their professional coach, Kinetic dancers have even appeared on X Factor Malta. It’s proof that this academy’s talent pipeline is as real as it gets.

However, popular classes still fill up rapidly. Therefore, bookings often open weeks in advance, so be sure to check their social media regularly.

Pros

  • Great studios with sprung floors and JBL sound
  • Professional coaches
  • Offers a broad curriculum

Cons

  • Classes fill up quickly

What stands out most is their dedication to excellence, showcased in international performances and collaborations with shows like X Factor Malta. Being part of Kinetic means being part of something truly special—a place where dance is more than just movement; it’s a way to connect, express, and shine.”

Dance College Studios brings an urban edge to its focus on modern, hip-hop, and contemporary styles. Classes here welcome everyone, from Tiny Toes at age three to advanced adult levels. So, there is always room for growth and improvement.

But what we appreciate the most is their structured term courses, which offer tiered packages ranging from 6-week fundamentals to 12-week advanced tracks. Each package comes with a clear syllabus, regular skill assessments, and optional private coaching add-ons.

In terms of milestones, they keep things super clear. You will always know what’s coming, whether it’s regular classes or holiday crash courses.

And stepping inside, you’re greeted by four spacious halls lined with full-wall mirrors and equipped with pro-grade sound systems that lift every routine. Plus, we love how comfy the waiting lounge is.

But what we dislike is the lack of shower facilities. Dancers can’t freshen up before rushing to work or meetings. They don’t even have an on-site cafe.

Pros

  • Wide variety of classes
  • Offers tiered term packages
  • Four sprung-floor, mirrored halls
  • Pro-grade sound and comfy lounge
  • Structured terms with assessments and showcases

Cons

  • No showers
  • No on-site cafe

An unforgettable dance experience

“Kim and Amy are the best dance teachers. So warm and patient with the students. Louis at the reception is very welcoming and always there to uplift and encourage the students. Dance College Studios is an experience. Highly recommended.”

Connexion Studio ignites Malta’s Latin scene with Bachata Sensual, Dominican Bachata, and Kizomba. We’re fans of the free first class and the €59 eight-week beginner program, which sets a strong foundation.

The partner-free Bachata Level 0 course is a small class sizes that ensure clear progression. We love how the structured lessons and freestyle socials can help maintain high motivation. But fair warning: those small groups mean spots fill up fast.

And their drill-based rehearsals? We like that they break routines into bite-sized moves. In fact, many students who are performing at the Malta Sensual Weekend mentioned that they take advantage of these sessions.

If you book last minute, they’ve got a courier who runs your stuff, like your registration forms, between the studio and the office. Honestly, it’s super handy.

However, parking can be a real hassle. Street parking around here’s kind of a joke, like you’ll barely see any meters. You’ll probably end up using a paid car park nearby.

Pros

  • Latin focus dances
  • Free first class
  • Partner-free intro course
  • Has structured lessons and freestyle socials
  • Championship-level instructors

Cons

  • Parking spots can be a hassle
  • Small class sizes mean spots fill up fast

Amazing atmosphere and socialisation

“I am not new at dancing schools and I can claim that this is a very good one. The most qualifying point to me is their teaching skill. I am a teacher myself and I can tell that I am improving a lot here because they know how to explain steps. Moreover, the atmosphere here is amazing. You will feel like a member of a big family! All the teachers and people are very nice and caring. It’s a really good place if, beside dancing, you are looking also for a bit of socialization:)”

Malta’s must-try dance experience

“Even though there’s not many dance school in Malta . I had the chance to to pick connection studio to learn salsa and bachata . So far i have nothing but good things to say . The teachers are fun with great energy . They are patient and kind . I would recommend this school to anyone who live in Malta and even if you are visiting it’s still a fun thing to do and connect with genuine people .”
