Experience complete safety with the top 5 security companies in Malta

  • Licensing and Certifications: We focused on companies officially licensed by Malta’s Police Licensing Office and employ certified security personnel, ensuring legal compliance and professional training.
  • Experience and Specialisation: We prioritised firms with years of experience and those offering niche services like maritime security, VIP protection, or event guarding, which are especially useful for tourists and expats.
  • Service Options and Flexibility: We sought companies that offer a range of services with the flexibility to cater to both short-term and long-term needs.
  • Pricing Transparency: We considered companies that provide clear, upfront pricing or offer custom quotes based on hours, locations, and service type, so we could more easily compare value for money.
  • Responsiveness and Client Support: We tested how quickly these companies responded to our inquiries. A few stood out by providing detailed answers and even followed up to offer tailored recommendations.

It’s all fun and games until someone starts peeking through your gate at 2 AM. Whether it’s your nosy neighbour or just the wind, you never want to guess if you’re safe.

Cameras, alarms, and motion sensors aren’t just for mansions anymore—they’re for anyone who values peace of mind. Because in a world of “just to be sure,” you’d rather be overprepared than under-protected.

With security companies in Malta, you’re not being paranoid. You’re being smart because safety doesn’t wait until something happens.

How much do security companies charge in Malta?

Security companies in Malta typically charge between €7 and €12 per hour for standard guarding service. Premium services, such as VIP protection, can range from €20 to €40 per hour, with custom packages available for events, embassies, or 24/7 coverage.

C.A.M.C. Security Ltd was founded in 2017 by Catalin C. Azzopardi, who brought over eight years of industry experience. The company operates as a family-run business with a tight-knit team of around 11–50 employees.

One thing we noticed immediately was their employee-first approach. They pay some of the highest wages in the Maltese security sector, which attracts experienced guards and keeps turnover low. There’s even a “waiting list” of trained staff ready for deployment.

Their service is extensive, encompassing wedding security, hotel patrols, nightclub crowd management, and even German-standard vehicle immobilisation. Their tailored approach, which includes risk assessments and intrusion simulations, isn’t just an add-on here.

However, it’s worth pointing out that this high pay structure might lead to premium pricing for clients.

Regardless, we like their in-house CAMC Academy. It’s the only one locally authorised to teach legal control & restraint as part of its courses. Even their wedding security setup felt top-tier: professional, unobtrusive, and very present when needed

Pros

  • Employee-first philosophy
  • German-standard vehicle clamping system
  • Only local academy with legal control and restraint training

Cons

  • Potential premium pricing

    Good management

“Good management, talks and explains every part of the service he can supply to suit your needs and in great detail. Provides the security guard course for people who are looking into the sector for work.”

Communication was easy from the get-go

“We would like to thank you for your service on the day. Communication was easy from the get go and it put us at ease during our special day. Thank you once again!”

Kerber Security has been in operation since 2004 and was founded by a former member of the Maltese Armed Forces with over thirty years of security expertise. Incorporated in 2005, it has become a go-to provider for government-level operations.

One thing that stood out to us was their ISO-9001:2015 certification. It clearly indicates that their processes are structured, audited, and focused on continuous improvement.

Their in-house Kerber Security Academy is another highlight. It trains around 50 candidates a month but only deploys the top graduates. Watching its guards at a recent public event, we noticed how well-uniformed and observant they were.

They also have a track record in large-scale and high-pressure environments. Their ability to blend hospitality with tight security measures is genuinely impressive, from EU summits and CHOGM to blockbuster film sets like Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

On the other hand, a significant part of their revenue, about €28,000,000 since 2013, comes from public contracts. This reliance may hint at less private-sector diversification, which could affect availability for smaller clients.

    Pros

    • ISO-9001:2015 certified for quality management
    • Founder with over 30 years of security expertise
    • Has an in-house academy
    • Proven track record in major international events

    Cons

    • Heavy reliance on public-sector contracts
    • May not be suitable for smaller clients

      Kind and helpful

“Rita @social security office Zabbar is really kind and helpful person.Me and my wife were there today and she treated us very lovely. Thanks to Rita and Kerber security for keeping such a good staff.”

Khiron Security has over two decades of experience in multi-country security and risk management. They’ve built a reputation for integrity, excellence, and rapid response in local and international deployments.

Of course, that global-level expertise and bespoke planning come with premium pricing. If you only need a standard guard for a shop or small office, their high-end service might be more than you actually require.

Still, we were impressed by their track record in VIP and celebrity protection, including clients such as Brad Pitt, Madonna, Bill Gates, and Spielberg. Their ability to handle complex crowd control and bomb threat protocols demonstrates that they operate comfortably at the highest stakes.

Their accredited Private Security Academy is a big plus. It offers Maltese Guard Licence courses and custom training for public-sector teams.

Also, their independence in consultancy made us happy as their audits feel genuinely client-first. Combined with their adaptability across government summits and corporate investigations, it’s easy to see why they’re trusted for international assignments.

      Pros

      • Over 20 years of international security experience
      • Offers celebrity and VIP protection for high-profile clients
      • Accredited Private Security Academy
      • Offers Maltese Guard Licence
      • Experts in bomb-threat protocols

      Cons

      • Premium pricing

Official / management are also experts in their field they are really professional. I did not see any company professional in Malta more than Khiron Security.”

“Top rated company in malta in security industry , supportive management, overall professional team.”

Grange Security is a family-run operation with Melvin and Denise Grange directly at the helm. Based in Marsaxlokk, a less common base than the Birkirkara or San Ġwann clusters, they’ve carved out a mid-scale brand with a mix of public and private contracts.

Their integration of manpower and training is a strong point, particularly as the Malta Police accredit them to deliver the Private Guard Licence course. That direct training means the guards they deploy are often people they’ve personally prepared for the field.

However, one thing to flag is their opaque pricing. There’s no public rate card, so quotes are negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

But their track record in securing government work is undeniable, having landed roughly €9 million in public-sector security contracts. We like seeing their name on major tenders, such as the University of Malta campus contract.

Another point we appreciated was their unionised workforce, with the General Workers’ Union representing over 76% of their security staff.

        Pros

        • Accredited to train Malta Police Private Guard Licence courses
        • Marsaxlokk-based family-run operation
        • Strong foothold in public-sector contracts
        • Unionised workforce with GWU representing over 76% of staff

        Cons

        • Pricing is only via negotiated quotes

Professional in providing all the required security services

“I have been using Grange security for my project and the company is very professional in providing all the required security services.”

          Good service

“Good service. Great directors to deal with. Well done.”

Kavallier Security has a tight, disciplined team, most of whom are former military personnel. They’re fully licensed under the Private Guard Agency Act and even authorised to operate VHF radio equipment for rapid communication.

We noticed how they handle security as a full package: guards, CCTV monitoring, and even VIP protection under one roof. It felt seamless in practice, especially with their integrated remote surveillance linked to on-the-ground patrols for quick response.

Their portfolio also includes the fingerprint-secured vault operations for FerroVault, Malta’s only private safe deposit box facility. That setup, with biometric access and €10,000 complimentary insurance, isn’t something from your average guard company.

We also found their flexibility impressive. Being able to deploy event teams with as little as 12 hours’ notice is rare in this industry. We witnessed this during a last-minute corporate function. The guards arrived on time and managed the crowd professionally.

However, in 2023-2024, they lost all government contracts due to confirmed labour rights breaches. This could be a deciding factor for clients if you place strong importance on legal integrity and fair labour standards in the companies you hire.

          Pros

          • Team of former military personnel
          • Integrates guards, patrols, CCTV, and consultancy
          • Manages fingerprint-secured vaults for FerroVault
          • Flexible deployment for hotels and events within 12 hours

          Cons

          • Lost all government contracts in 2023–2024

Good cooperative, and quick to respond

“Kallavier security services is one of best Service company in Malta with Good cooperative , exclient Quick respond and Services wonderful Peoples.”

            Very cooperative

“Wonderful Company and Management was very cooperative.”
